The Pop-up Galleries (PUG) is a concept by Dolf James to activate unused public space as venues for art. Dolf created 4 galleries which could be set up on temporary platforms, and worked with the city to obtain permits for their setup. There were over 16 artists who provided art for the structures.
The PUGs were installed at Main Street Park on August 2-3 for the Art Walk opening on Aug 3. Also, 2 - 8x8x8 "art cubes" constructed by Doug Eng and fabricated from corrugated cardboard were placed along the sidewalk with markers to record comments by the visitors. Music was provided by Jennifer Chase and her band, and a visual projection by David Montgomery.
