Blu Gras is a study conceived by Doug Eng and constructed in collaboration with Dolf James. It started as an investigation on the use of ENT (electrical non-metallic tubing) and its distinctive blue color as filaments en masse. As the construction progressed, we realized that the grouping took on its own personality and surprises. Much to our delight, further additions enhanced the perceptions of movement and serendipity from the ordered grid. We began to see "faces" on the open ends of the tubing. More investigations are planned.

On Sept 2, 2011, Dolf and I installed Blue Gras - Prelude, on the pedestals for the pop-up galleries in Main Street Park. We left the tubes unattached so that they can be reconfigured. Someone has already took the liberty to twist some of them around. More to come...
